Field Day Volunteer Sign Ups Are Here!
Shady Grove Elementary is very excited for Field Day on Friday, April 22nd. Lots of planning has gone into making sure it is a fun & safe day for all of our students. In order for Field Day to be successful, we need YOU!!!
As always, volunteers are critical to pulling off a huge event like Field Day smoothly. While there will still be some volunteer positions coming from homeroom class parents on nList, this year we will be using SignUp Genius to sign up the majority of the volunteers.
Many of you may already have used this to sign up for cafeteria duty, welcome desk, etc. (Please note that you do not need to be a member of signupgenius.com to sign up and they will not use your name or email for any purpose unrelated to this event.) This method of signing up will allow Mrs. Reynolds to see all her volunteers in one sign-up for grades K-2, all her volunteers in one sign-up for grades 3-5, and will allow an automatic reminder to be sent out to everyone who signed up noting the time of their shift(s) 2 days prior to Field Day.
Links to the sign-up pages are below, along with a class schedule for each grade.
Simple instructions are at the top of the page and you will be able to see the shift timeframe for which you are signing up, as well as locations/jobs for which we need volunteers.
There are a wide variety of fun opportunities, such as supervising events at various locations (both inside and outside), handing out equipment for relay races, and keeping water stations ready for the kids. While you may not necessary be working a particular event location at the exact moment your child's class is there, the convenient volunteer shifts will still allow you to follow and observe your child(ren) freely for all the rest of your time at Field Day.
You are more than welcome to sign up for more than one shift and are not limited to only the Field Day grade level that includes your child(ren). In fact, this would allow you to help volunteer just a small piece of your day AND also let you follow your child during their grade's Field Day with no responsibilities.
Thank you in advance to all our volunteers for helping to make Field Day such a special event for our students! Please contact Kirsten Hanson with any questions

Budget Vote Request
The PTA Board has discussed and approved the following item, to be forwarded to the PTA General Membership for a vote.
Recently, Shady Grove received a grant of 40 ukeleles for our music program and classroom use. Thirty will be used in the Music classes, with all grade levels. Five will be stored as reserves to cover any future damage/loses. Five will be in room 4 kindergarten. Mrs. Brady will use them to reinforce academic skills during small group instructions and for small group enrichment during indoor recess times.
To support the use of the ukeleles at Shady Grove, the PTA Board proposes spending $569.80, to be allocated as follows:
Please vote on this proposed $569.80 expenditure.
