Hi Cardinal Families,
The Shady Grove PTA is excited to welcome our Cardinal Families to the 2022-2023 school year. With the past several years being unconventional, we are looking forward to having some normalcy return to this school year. We are also looking forward to the return of many of the PTA’s planned activities throughout the school year that have been put on hold for the past several years. Our amazing PTA Board made up of parent volunteers has been working hard over the summer planning activities for the school year such as Spirit Nights, our 2nd annual Cardnival, International Night, Fun Run, After School Enrichment, Reflections, Outdoor Classroom, Cultural Arts performances & so much more!
The Mission of the PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. To help us accomplish this mission, we want to represent every Cardinal student with a PTA membership. We hope that every adult in your house will join the PTA. The PTA’s efforts are primarily funded through our Check Writing Campaign, a direct donation fundraising campaign that allows families to make a once-a-year donation to the PTA. No selling wrapping paper, popcorn or magazines! We invite you to become a member, become involved, and make a difference. Through your memberships, volunteer hours, and participation in your student’s education, we achieve success together. We have several levels of PTA membership to suite your preference. Specifically, the Cardinal Donor proceeds benefit all of our children and fund our programs and purchases for the year including Cultural Arts programs, Reflections, teacher resource funds, technology improvements, STEM Lab, Outdoor Classroom, PTA events, and other school resources. Without the PTA and your support, these programs and supplies at Shady Grove would not exist. Remember, PTA Memberships must be renewed each year and you don't have to volunteer to be a PTA Member, your membership shows support for what the PTA does here at SGES.
We also have several open Board positions for this school year and welcome anyone who might be interested in volunteering to reach out to us. There will be many volunteer opportunities for families to be involved throughout the year and we welcome you to sign up!
To stay informed throughout the year, please visit the Shady Grove PTA website (www.sgespta.org), the PTA Facebook page, and our bi-weekly PTA email blasts emailed to PTA members.
We want the PTA to be a welcoming spot for all and to try to make our wonderful school even stronger together. On behalf of the entire PTA board, we are grateful for your support of our school and look forward to a wonderful school year!
Thank you,
Kathryn Shewey
PTA President
