What is the Cardnival?
The Shady Grove PTA hosts the annual Cardnival every spring, to raise money for the Thomas B. Fernald Scholarship and our PTA. We invite all our Cardinal families and alumni to spend an evening playing carnival games, enjoying food trucks and making memories with our amazing community.
Thomas B. Fernald was the first principal at Shady Grove Elementary and left a lasting legacy of enthusiastic leadership! All former SGES students who are graduating from high school are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Recipients of the scholarship have traditionally clocked in an impressive amount of community service hours during their middle school and high school years. They are very appreciative of the funds they receive from the Cardnival, which go towards their college education. In 2024, we awarded scholarships to 3 exceptional Cardinals.
