I want to volunteer for a committee - can I do that? YES!!! We are always looking for volunteers. You can participate whether you have just a little bit of time here and there, have time only in the evening, or can be at school regularly. There is something for everyone! Click on Volunteers for more details, or contact the PTA Board Member in charge of the committee you’re interested in helping.
I want to lead a committee - how does that work? Most Board Member and Committee Chair positions are filled in the spring for the following school year, and most are for 2-year terms. If you are interested in leading a committee in the future, please contact the current PTA President. If you have a specific committee in mind, please contact the current committee chair to participate in and learn about the activities. Don’t be shy – we love to have new leaders!
What are other ways I can get involved? A very important way you can be involved is in your child’s classroom. Each classroom has a Room Parent, who helps the teacher coordinate the parent volunteers. Your teacher and Room parent will let you know how you can get involved, whether you have time available during the day to help in the classroom or you would prefer to help from home or provide needed materials for special occasions.
Why should I get involved? There are many good reasons, here are just a few:

Why should I get involved? There are many good reasons, here are just a few:
- Your child will know you find school important and it will become more important to him/her.
- Your child will be proud and excited to see you at school (even if they don’t show it when you are around).
- Your efforts help the teachers, so they can concentrate on teaching the children.
- When you come to the school to volunteer, you will meet teachers, parents and children, and become more comfortable and familiar with the school community.
- Your child will be able to tell that you know your way around, and will be more comfortable and sure of himself/herself at school.
- Being more familiar with the school culture makes it easier to find answers to questions and figure out how to resolve any problems that may arise.
- The PTA and the school administration work closely together in developing and enhancing programs and services. By being an active member of the PTA, you will participate in setting the course. Your voice can be heard!
